I see these shots all the time, and there's no other way to say it but you just missed on this shot. The sky is over exposed, while the middle ground and foreground are under exposed. a ND filter would certainly help your cause, as well as bracketing. A different time of day also would help a great deal. Good luck.

A first photo to look at in the challenge and not disappointing. Just love the scenery around this majestic tree, it must be very special..what can be nicer than seeing flocks of geese grazing in this lovely landscape...by the long shadows and the haze, it must be early morning. Some people may say sharper but I like it like this..

Finding a tree, single, without background trees is something I agonized over and eventually decided not to enter the challenge. You have a nice lot of good specimens there to choose from.
