Welcome to DPC! You have won the ever elusive Brown Ribbon (last place) on your very first entry! Hey, you got no place to go but up now!
By now i suppose you get the idea that the shot is out of focus, huh? If the data you entered is correct, 1/2300 is WAY fast for a shutter speed for 99.9% of things. perhaps 1/230? That might even be a bit fast for this subject matter.
Focus..this looks more like plain old out of focus, but being sooo dark I suspect that camera movement might be more to blame, the without an accurate shutter speed I cannot be sure. 1/2 second? That is too long to handhold for anyone, so use a tripod or more light to allow a faster shutter speed.
Dark - too dark, definitley underexposed. More light, higher ISO, wider aperture or slower shutter speed, or some combination of all of them is needed to fix this.
I see you in the spoons. Once you get past the basic technical stuff, this is the next fun part of photography - looking at more than just the subject (like the background, reflections in glasses, untucked shirts, etc). In this image you can be seen as a reflection in the spoons. Moving the camera to one side or the other would have helped. There is a light reflecting in most of the spoons as well creating hot spots that are not pretty to see. Shiny things are difficult to photograph well.
Hey, on the good side the white balance is good! The composition is rather static and boring. The spoon rest is at about 1/3 down form the top (good) but the spoons are not all in the pic (cut offf handles, bottoms, etc). The one tarnished spoon is very distracting, drawing my eye for what reason? It is just distracting.
I cannot really comment on your post production other than to say you got the resizing part done just fine, not something everyone gets on their first entry.
Again, welcome to DPC, feel free to ask in teh forums about anything, post pics for advice, etc.
