Desolation of the Imaginationby liebeComment by tate: I assume this is a dig on TV .. which is simply brilliant. The empty stare and dak adult work encroaching is quite symbollic. well done. 8 |

Desolation of the Imaginationby liebeComment by taterbug: Cool shot. Great concept. The television. I agree with what you're saying. Actually, that makes for interesting, dramatic lighting. I like how you've conveyed the message nicely, without even showing the tv. Might be nice to have just a little tighter framing on the left. Get the child even more out from the center of frame. Yes, very cool shot though. And a very creative, refreshingly original take on the challenge, for me. Good job. |

The Jugglerby liebeComment by amber: Hi from the Critique Club!
This is a really dramatic image. There are great dynamics happening here: My eye was immediately first drawn to the pin at the top, which really stands out against the black. The eye then searches for the middle pin, then finally the bottom one - so the eye is drawn down the image. Once at the bottom, our attention shifts to the tree and then that building, which draws the eye dramatically up the the image, to begin the process over again. This circular movement of the eye mimics the circular movement of juggling, giving it an added dimension.
The symbolism I see in your image is that the building represents big business. On each floor there are many employees 'juggling' with the demands of work and family.
The perspective you chose to shoot from really helps make this image powerful.
The focus and DOF are well executed, capturing both the motion, tree and building.
The man's trousers are perhaps too bright in this negative version, but the rest of the image is so dynamic that it doesn't distract too much. |

The View from Yesterdayby liebeComment by smilebig4me1x: hello from the critique club, Im Cher and I will be your critiquer today :o)
I see a few things wrong with this photo and I will try to not sound like Im picking on your work but i want to be honest and help you improve.
the B&W you chose to edit this as was a very wise decision for this subject. it gives it the "old" feel and met the challenge this way. While I tend to lean twords darker editing myself I find this photo to be exceptional dark. There arent many midtones to be found in this which I feel is the primary reason that this scored the way it did. While I think your main intended subject is the buildings on the left of the photo my eyes are drawn to the bottom right where the exit/entrance ramp(i think it is) is. for me that is the point of interest you should have exploited better. the darkness of the bottom hinders this for me and leaves me wanting to see alot more detail.good job on not getting the sky over exposed, thats a hard thing to do.
If you have any questions about this critique please PM me. Good luck in future challenges and have a great day!
~~cher~~ :o) |
