When they uncovered the lost city, they were amazed at how immaculate the architecture remained. Searching through the ruins, one of the archeologists happened to look up.

"Look!" He exclaimed to his fellows, "I think there is ancient writing there!"

Over the next few months, they struggled to translate the strange markings. In the end, they concluded that it was a mark of naming. That this place was the Astex, an off-shoot of another civilization they'd discovered far south of this place.

They never did realize that the shiny circular metal cutting tools they found weren't sacrificial in nature, and had actually been used to get horses to obey. In fact, they were just pretty useless archeologists all around.
