I don't think the subject is dark enough to be a strong silhouette-- I'm just left wishing that he was a bit brighter so that I could see his face. I like the angle and your choice of subject, however. And the trees are a little too high, keeping him from being the larger than life figure I think he should be.

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Such a cute kid ... and such a shove off look .. there is everything candid in that look.

Composition:
The top of the head missing is an issue ... the image is slightly soft .. but that is not a major ...

Subject:
Definately meets the challenge .. although I think that many didn't think so hence the voting.

Technical (Colour and light):
Lovely natural light and good pastel colours.

To grow its vote?:
Pays to get the whole body if you can ... hard to dictate for a candid .. but sometimes we get a candid and others don't think it is real .. there is little ways around this.

Summary:
Good shot .. keep it up you are improving all the time.

A nice color portrait, but not a candid to me. Nice tones, colors, focus and child though!

focus is a bit soft, and the image is a bit flat. could have used a bit more post-processing to bring the image out. as a candid, it's ok; i can feel his discomfort, being made to dress up and pose.
