I really like the composition of this photo, the tree and the door really balance each other. I think the only thing I would do is probably burn out the detail in the lower part of the wall (the band at the bottom). Burning can really give you some depth to the photo too. I think it really suited the challenge also.

Simple composition, reminiscent of a water color.
The reason it didn't do as well as you expected in the challenge was that it was in the wrong challenge. You admit in your details that you forced it in via title.
Personally I would have found this a very interesting entry in Landscapes My first impression was using it as a visual compliment to Joyce Kilmer's "Trees".

Hey I remember seeing this one before. I like the composition of this photo. I also like character of the "rough around the edges building."
I think this one might look better without the tree's shadow, it makes that area of the photo very busy. Maybe you could also bump the contrast and saturation a little in post editing.

I figured it was some part of the stadium. I loved the picture and it did make me go "What' when I first read the title and then looked at the picture.

I was puzzled about the title, too, but since I don't give a darn about baseball, I figured I wouldn't get the connection under any circumstances, and I didn't let it bother me. The enigmatic building and door were enough of a "What?" for me.

Hmmm, not being a baseball fan, I have no idea how your title fits this photo. I like the lighting and shadow cast by the tree, but the subject matter doesn't hold my interest as well as other entries in this challenge.
