Nice calm and tranquil, a definite mood enhancer LOL. Agreed on the greens being a bit bright but nonetheless it is a beautiful shot.

This is something I have wanted to try to shoot for ages. It is a pity that part of the bird's head is obscured. A better angle, side on more or from a higher angle so that the feeder isnt so dominant and obscuring the bird, would have improved it a lot, the colors are nice too. Keep trying to get these guys you will get the shot when you least expect it.

Whooooah!! Very awesome. I hope you are working up something cool like this for the magic challenge. What a great idea!

Yes. I LIKE IT!!! :)

And what a cool story behind it. It makes me like it even more. I love it when people tell the stories behind their photos. It makes them so much more meaningful. Thank you!!

Well. .. away from the feeder or no. . .this is an awesome shot!!! I am so in awe of people who can get good hummingbird shots. I can't even get my camera stopped on one long enough to shoot. This is great. So much detail in the wings and head. I just love it!!!

I would imagine it'd be hard to get a shot of a hummingbird. I like this one because the background is so rich and it really compliments the bird's colors. Of course the feeder obscures part of the subject but instead of being all bad, I think the feeder really adds something to the photo and makes it unique.

Thanks for your kind words. This is actually my boxing boot. The story behind it is.

I run a club and train the boxers who compete throughout the country. One of my lads reached the national semi finals. We drove 5 hours to the venue only for him to realise he forgot his boots. Luckily i had mine on but he was a size 8 this one is a 10.

Anyway we tied them tight and he fought and won making it to the finals (although he lost in the final). Trouble was i had to corner the boxer wearing sneakers size 8's :) Not very pleasent lol.

He has this framed on his wall as memory of the day where it all went wrong but turned out great.

Overall a nice shot and a valiant attempt but I think insect shots are a real challenge. My eyes want at least one spot on the hopper to be in sharp focus but it's just not quite there (and yet seems over sharpened in post processing - especially when looking at the hairs) and the color a little drab making this shot just feel average. Maybe cropping off an inch from the right too? Oh wait - you are from the UK - make that about 2.5 cm. Hee hee!

Gorgeous! I want to slip off my shoes and take a walk in the water. Lovely light and color - I think the bright greens just make it feel more like a painting - and the softness of the water is beautiful. Very nicely done.
