Strong blue is a great color for high scoring images. Just review past ribbon winners and you will see that it crops up frequently.

At first glance it is not immediately apparent what this image is about. In most, but not all cases, viewers should instantly recognize what the image is and make a connection to it. That is probably difficult for most male voters.

Though not particularly creative or unique the composition of this image is fine. The focus perhaps is too soft. It needs a stronger and more apparent central theme.

I really like how this photo came out - it was a brief window in an otherwise cloudy day, and the sun came out for a brief moment, and I snapped this. I have to admit that the flare on the vanes was totally accidental - I was trying to obscure the horrible industrial complex behind the hospital by taking the photo from a really sharp angle looking up :)

I've had to cheat on the sky somewhat, as fixing the barrel distortion didn't leave me much choice but to rotate the image, which meant the top left was non-existant... thank goodness for the heal tool . (The gull is a real element of the photo).
