First Holy Communionby buddybuddy1226Comment by KarenNfld: Bright light from the windows has caused you to overexpose the image. This would be a stronger photo if you could have focused closer on one or two of the girls with maybe just one window or the altar as a background. As it is now the background is busy and distracting. |

Long Walk Homeby buddybuddy1226Comment by espy2: I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are
near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry
in this challenge.
Ok, well, children are far too easy to get candids of. They do all kinds of obscure and out of the ordinary things in and out of public on any given day. Here we have a child, but not one doing anything extra ordinary, but just walking down the street. I would have totally cropped this to the top of his head leaving only the street in the shot with him top left of the frame. I would have converted it to b/w and given a lot of attention to Highlight, Shadow, and Midtones to really bring out the texture of the road and his clothing and hair. I would have also given it a good dash of unsharp mask, as it is out of focus. To me that would have made this shot a bit more interesting. It would have made the viewer wonder where he was going. In this shot, nothing is left to mystery. There is no interest here at all for me other than a shot of a child walking. As is, and as a candid, this is a 3 for me. |
