I got the same kind of conditions. You did a very nicely saturated picture. Like the striation of the canals amongst the grasses.

Challenge related: The challenge called for an artificial light source, I believe the sun is a natural light source.

Technical: The photo is very good. I like how the bird is sharp and in focus compared to the water. There is alot of extra space on the left that could have been cropped out. Another option would to have put the bird in the top right corner, making it seem like it had more room to walk or placing it in the bottom left corner making it seem like the only place to go was into the water.
