my favorite of the dragonflies and (at least where I live) the most cooperative for portraits..I love the leaf shape and the red border on the leaf is nice compositionally with the insect

I agree with all of your comments. The 'blurry' right side of the pencil is, in fact, another facet of the pencil at a very shalloew angle to the camera. I didn't notice this when I took the shot and would have done something about it if I had.

I din't see any banding on my monitor - do you have an LCD screen?
