I think not chopping the one birds wing off would help the photo even if the subjects are smaller.

just because your camera can produce fairly nice pictures at ISO 1600 dosn't mean you should use it all the time. I can see the noise in the image, if you had settled for ISO 400 It would have turned out better. There is no excuse for a shutter speed of 5,000 unless you are shooting fallling water. A shutter of 600 will do just fine especialy with the sucsessive shooting capability of i think 40 pictures??

For how nice your equipment is you should be taking better photos.

I like the subject but the composition really doesnt work for me. The wings are clipped at awkward (for me anyway) locations. I dont like how just the tip of the right wing is cut off, it makes it look like it was accidentally done. The clip on the left wing is very uncomfortable for me since so much of the right wing is showing. I also dont like how there is so much space behind the bird and so little in front. It really gives the picture (for me anyway) the appearance of being a shot where your focal length was too long and you couldnt keep the bird in the frame while tracking it. I think the picture might be better if it were cropped a lot tighter so that the right wing was clipped the same amount as the left wing and the space behind the bird was eliminated. I dont know if it is my screen but it looks like you have some clipped highlights as well along the leading edge of the right wing and right around the eye of the gull.

Unfortunately the background looks grayish/brown, not white. Good capture though

to me this is more of a black and white than a light color on white background as the challenge suggested. Otherwise this is a very dramatic nature shot, very professionaly done.

Great picture. Wish the background were more white - seems very gray on my monitor.
