I like the background blur, but overall not very interesting. The bloom on the far right looks blown out.

Aw, I like the bug. I'm almost positive it was most likely unintentional (I could be wrong) so I'm sure it was a nice suprise if that was the case. I like the blend of yellow and white, too.

A bit bright, especially on the right daisy, but pretty for weeds/wildflowers.

Yeah, I get sadness out of this. Not the pose, not the lighting, not the composition, but the right combination of everything. Well done. Success conveying sadness to the masses was difficult I think, but you pulled it off.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Your submission meets the challenge topic: Chips. Why did it score so low? Here are a few suggestions:

At first glance, the composition is very busy. The subject (stack of chips) is not set apart from the background sufficiently. The lighting does not benefit the subject - it is coming from an unfortunate direction and casting a shadow on the side we, the viewers, see.

The shallow depth of field works in part to highlight the subject, but in this case, it is a little too shallow - having the bottom part of the photo in focus would have lead the eye to that you want the viewer to see - the stack of chips.

The colors are a bit flat. Some adjustment of levels might have helped here.

That said, keep on shooting and submitting. There's no better way to learn!

Best,

Alicia
