This is a sad pictureâ€Â¦ It is also a superbly executed shot. I might not like the idea and I might not like being forced to look at something that I'd rather not see, but, from the point of view of the challenge you have to ask: Does it fit? Yes, and very powerfullyâ€Â¦ Is it a good photographically? Yes, it's damn goodâ€Â¦ Is the composition OK? Can't fault itâ€Â¦ Did it catch your eye? Yesâ€Â¦ Did it make you think or bring out any emotion? Yes – both countsâ€Â¦ How do you score something like this? (10) Controversial, but gutsy pictureâ€Â¦

Painful, but a reality, I guess. The bw works well, here, establishing a sombre mood. I almost think more of the stone needs to be in the picture, because the tree almost becomes my focal point, but that is just me. karmat

Very poignant.
I'd like this even better as a landscape shot using the lower half of the photo only.

Strong image... Did you consider it with the whole of the tombstone in the shot? The crop seems to have been a bit close...

This is moving, works well in black and white and has no swings in it. To be fussy, I wish there were fewer gravestones beyond the tree as that part looks a little cluttered to me. But I still think it's one of the best ten photos here.

Oh my goodness, this is very sad indeed, but I wouldn't have submitted this photo for this challenge.

Boy, that's kind of a sad interpretation of the challenge... but still very nicely done. I like the composition; the subject made me give my little girl a hug...
