SandmanComment by fotomann_forever: Definitely sign up as a PJ for the school paper. It's GREAT experience and you have skills.
This is an awesome sports capture. A tribute to your ability to capture both action and emotion in one shot. Technicals are all there, compostion is strong and the shot just screams to be looked at. I gave it a 10 in voting. I was impressed.
I really can't tell you of anyway you could have made this photo any better, other than a bit more curves adjustment to boost contrast and saturation.
Advice about PJ in general. Take assignments, do your best to capture them at thier highest. I really think you'd do well. Just try to tell a story with your photos and gather as much info about what is happening in the photo as you can: Who, what, when, where, why and how. That info helps writers and editors with follow-up and placement of your photo.
I alos reccomend you write some if you have time. It helps you to learn the journalism process and how to answer question for the viewer. It gives you more insight into what to capture in your photos, also.
Oh, and if ya want a free lunch a stop at PR events is always good :-)
