What the? Well, it's definitely different! This needs more contrast to bring out the textures.

I voted this low for several reasons. The subject matter is fine, rather abstract with some interesting shapes and lines. It does look, as the title suggests, like a "mouth cave." But the image quality is lacking in many ways. First, as a black and white - it is very muddy - with no really white whites. It does have strong blacks, and a limited ranges of grays. Lighting seems to be coming from the top, and from the right as well, but the shadows don't add much to the composition. The top of the image looks to like the surface of the moon - which adds another texture that competes with the bottom.

Just an opinion: I thought it needed more contrast and a sharper focus. The idea was very good.

Interesting idea but the image is fairly soft with low contrast and a fairly flat grayscale tone.

Like the exposure here - the controlled blowing out of the highlights from the sun really add impact to the sense of suffusion of light through the space. In my experience people will comment on that as a bad point, but don't believe them - it's a fascinating and useful trick, well pulled off here.

Should have been cropped tighter to eliminate negative space. Good leading of the eye to the sunlight.

you managed to show the difference between the two lightsources and the title is well chosen! I love the sphere you put down with this photo, the use of colours and the composition! Top 10 photo!!

I'll bet a lot of people won't understand the title--they'll wonder what "salt" has to do with anything. :-)

I'm assuming you are referring to the sodium lights normally found in large spaces, and your photo shows that sunlight is naturally much brighter. That's a long way to go for most DPC voters, I'm afraid. :-)
