Where Shadows Bendby Hot KarlComment by glad2badad: This is an interesting play on shadows. I like one of the earlier comments about a B&W processing look - wonder how that would have come out. Anyway, noticed you online and it's been awhile for you. Looking to jump back in and enter some challenges again? Why not? Give it a shot. :-) |

Fame and Fortune Clothingby Hot KarlComment by Paul: OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for my Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: Really bold image - I like the way that you have really committed to it - the composition, the pose, the POV, the harsh lighting, the tone-mapped look.
Critical stuff: There are few elements that detract from the purity of the image and I'm sure you could have cloned them out legally under advanced - for me they are: the strip lights in the lateral windows and the foliage top right. I also think a tad more space below his feet would have balanced the image.
Overall: I really like it, but is so nearly fantastic, that the small distractions become even more apparent. |

Man it's cool when somebody gets out of a carby Hot KarlComment by Hot Karl: Wow, what an absolute bomb. I guess I should have gone more over the top with the artificial light, or just pick a different picture.
I was trying to blend the available light with artificial, and if you look you can see high lights on both sides of the head. |

Man it's cool when somebody gets out of a carby Hot KarlComment by Yo_Spiff: I like your processing of this, but the composition seems odd. Just too much empty space on the right makes it seem awkward to me. Not sure what you are trying for with the title either, except perhaps being silly. Not that the title really matters for this challenge. |
