Thanks all for your comments. It finished low in rank but given the comments I've received from some of the absolute best photographers around here (whom I admire) I'm flattered beyond belief. Personally, I love it but I can understand how it might ruffle feathers and score relatively low; there was some great competition though. For anyone interested, I simply cut an approximately 2-3mm slice through the apple's core & placed it on a lightbox. I adjusted it as noted at top.
Thanks again all. I'm always just hoping to improve.

I can not believe that this image finished at this score. You see, some folks have a sex hangup and fail to see the dual beauty and meaning of this image. You did a very nice job here and this is the kind of images that can hang in an art exhibit.
