Woot! You got the Rebel XT! Very cool, congrats!!

I'm very happy with my 28-300, it is very small compared to other lenses, light, handy and quite inexpensive... Good travel mate & starter lens.

It really depends on how you are using it, in good light it is performing very good. But in some situations the poor bokeh is quite noticeable.

I am getting a nice Canon prime lens next week, which is supposed to have very nice bokeh .. :) We'll see how that goes.

and how do you like the 28-300 lens? i'm liking the 70-300, but i also miss the shorter range. does the 28-300 work well for an all-purpose lens? i'd really like to avoid switching lenses as much as possible.
