Yes, they are. The setting is a little odd and cutting off her legs hurts the composition a bit, IMO. Lighting, exposure, DOF and colors are two thumbs up, though! I will give this a... 6. ...no, a 7.

I like that relief of St. Mary rolling her eyes. :P Awesome job on this. Only issue for me might be the colors of their clothes kind of stand out a little too much. Would like to see it in BW. Still a solid 8.

Would have benefited from a closer look back lit if possible. Still, the imagery is precise, crisp and attractive.

Interesting photo, but where is the silhouette? I see plenty of detail on the couple and on pretty much everything else in the scene.

Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that contributes to the challenge

I can see why you were drawn to this subject for the challenge. There are some lovely repeating patterns in the boats, the rigging, the decking. It’s just such a shame that those poles disrupt the full potential of your shot but obviously there’s nothing you could do about them. Take a chainsaw with you next time!

Indeed this was a challenging exposure without a tripod but you certainly managed to get a good exposure. I like the rim lighting on the couple but would prefer a closer shot of just the couple it would have had more impact, I find both sides of the scene distracting.

Nice shot and good clean comp and color. I think I would have liked a different angle better. 7

An appealing image that makes a contribution to the challenge.

I think your commenters have given you some useful critique here. They are all correct to a degree, unfortunately this is not quite working because there feels a general underexposure combined with some rim lighting together with stray lighting that is partially illuminating areas that don’t really help the end result. I think you are to be commended for trying to create something original probably of a low key nature but it didn’t quite work to its best. I do quite like it but what lets it down most is the rim lighting of the leg its counter to the feel of everything else going on here
