Bulldozerby welcherComment by willem: A lovely portrait, good concentrated expression, total absorbed by his own activities and forgetting the surroundings. Good to have those people in the background and good use of depth of field. Nice wide angle surroundings as well. With the view to the left as it is I would try to crop a bit of the right of the image (and probably also the top) to bring him a bit more to the middle/right in the image. |

Bulldozerby welcherComment by Kavey: Hi Matt
No problem in my providing feedback, this is one of the nicer children pics entered into this challenge IMHO. I gave it a 7 though I mentally put it at about 7.5!
I like the composition well, though I think you could do with a touch more image at the left and a touch left at the right. He feels too far to the left to me. I love the very low viewpoint; it really takes us into his world. The total concentration is a feeling we have all experienced and the freedom to be so absorbed in leisure, in the way that young children often are, is something we all still hanker after. That's what makes this a universal image for me rather than a boring shot of someone's kid. I like your choice to present the image in toned black and white ; it adds a timeless quality. I also like the out of focus crowd far behind, the pretty clouds in the sky and the lovely texture of the sand in the foreground. Altogether a lovely image and grows on me the more I view it.

Bulldozerby welcherComment by jaredldr: My favorite "kid" shot of the challenge. I love the wide angle and the DOF in this shot. The child is so intent on what he is doing he probably didn't even know his picture was being taken. Very nicely done. 10 |
