Here the rule of thirds would of helped your shot......dead center is not working. Also check your levels with Photoshop or in your camera...the background is blueish.

very blah compositon -- how to add drama is the big question for you. possibly short DOF, angle the carrot in the frame, shoot it in context (the texture of cake icing would add a lot of interest).
