Moss Heavenby CameliaMComment by JakeKurdsjuk: It appears that you were left with the same level of "flora" that I was, and experienced the same problem I had with moss - it's just hard to show in a photograph. Did you rotate this 90 degrees right? It works better for me the other way if you did, and wish you're rotated it left if you didn't. Tough to find something in this that draws you in but I appreciate you trying to do something different. |

When the sun shines just right by CameliaMComment by sidpixel: *Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*
A pleasing portrait that meets the challenge.
This is a lovely self-portrait enhanced by the side light coming from your window giving a pleasing amount of illumination and shadow. Your eyes are nice and sharp and brightly reflecting the window that is providing you with that light, nicely done. I can see why your painting appeals to you it has a sense of invigorating energy about it.
What I think would have been an equally pleasing alternative would have been more of profile with you looking towards the painting perhaps looking over your shoulder towards the red roses. In this way the light would have lit up your face even more with the shadows trailing towards the back of your head and the hair, the blend to darkness may have been quite seamless.
Apologies for the lengthy wait for a critique but I hope you still have the same optimism and your year is going well? I'm sorry your image didn't score better, Sid |

Blind Ghost by CameliaMComment by sidpixel: *Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*
An interesting image that meets the challenge well.
I have to echo the thoughts of one of your commenters and commend you for a well thought out plan, the end result is a ghostly image that works very well. I love her well defined shape on the blinds against the missing sections of her in between the light filled gaps. Good old mom!
You have overexposure from the external daylight but this is inevitable given the shooting situation. I think a tighter crop may have improved the end result, I don't think you need the full doorway at all, or even the full standing figure, a crop that just has the essential upper body cropped to just above her head and no doorway would work better for you. You do have a slight lean to the right which could be corrected as part of a crop if you decided to try it.
Thanks for an interesting take on the challenge, Sid |

Blind Ghost by CameliaMComment by timb: Good job. I like that the figure isn't seen in the light, just in the blinds. :) |
