The Inner Roseby crisComment by moodville: I like the softness of the yellow, although think it may be a tad underexposed. I like how it fills the frame, and there is some texture on the left side, but would have perhaps liked to have seen a little more texture on the other petals. |

Eye of the treeby crisComment by beckettboots: Greetings from the Critique Club.
Composition: I think the subject of your photo is very compelling, but the framing of it is the weakest part of the photo. Keeping the trunk of the tree off-centered is a great choice, but perhaps an additional off centered line would help (the "eye" is pretty much centered).
Background: The muted and dark greenery is a great background for this piece.
Camera Work: (Focus/DOF/Exposure) The DOF with the mushed leaves is wonderful. The colors and exposure are good, but I think the textures of the eye would be served by a crisper focus.
Post Processing: the in camera exposure is good, there was no need to do any other post except for maybe a more creative crop and better use of positive/negative space.
The Challenge: n/a
My Opinion: I like the colors and textures you found here. I like the subject much better than the execution, but luckily that can be easily remedied, you have a good eye for color and the use of DOF was great. Cropping the top more radically actually gives it more of an "eye" feel because it allows us to imagine an eyebrow.
I hope these comments have been of help to you. Please mark them as helpful if they have, and feel free to PM me if you want to discuss or clarify anything here.

Glowing Abstractby crisComment by mbardeen: Hi Chris, greets from the Critique Club.
Technically, I think this shot is well done. I don't mind the over exposure so much, but what I don't like is the shot feels... static. Perhaps zooming in and cropping off the sides or rotating the object might help.
I think what I like about the picture is tonality and the texture of the vase. I'm not sure this deserves less than a 5, but, alas.. welcome to DPChallenge.
Best of luck in future challenges!
Matt

Eye of the treeby crisComment by mirdonamy: I really like the eye, but the photo is lacking sharpness and clarity. I would try to refocus the photo and shoot it a few more times. You'll get it. Try just before / at sunset too. You may get some of that yellow lighting back into the photo and less bright white. |

Eye of the treeby crisComment by train: Spooky! I've heard of 'the hills are alive' but maybe the trees are as well!
Nice capture detail and nice find the only thing I find a bit distracting is the light seems a bit on the bright side at the top
Very original 7 |

Eye of the treeby crisComment by sfalice: Looks a little like an eye, doesn't it. Nice capture. Could be a bit crisper on the trunk of the tree, but the background is just right. |
