The lighting is fantastic. I love the wrinkles in the man's skin, and the highlights in the hair. The bokeh of the water behind him is great. I am green with envy over this much of the photo - I hope I might one day do as well.

I don't get the whole diamond thing going onin the left third of the photo. I find this really distracting and wonder if the photo could have been cropped just inside this. Even if this had meant losing some more of the hands, I think this would have helped. This would have allowed cropping of the vast black area in the sweater also. This would purge the photo of all unnecessary clutter.

The statement of pain is subtle but clear. After looking at photos in this area for several hours, this puts this photo among the ten or twenty best in the category. Really good job!

I think the expression on his face really represents the title. The sign(?) on the left is a bit distracting though.

Very nice. My only Critisizm is that the white (Pillar??) with the double diamond pattern is a distracting. Takes the focus off the man. Crop that out and you have a beautiful shot!

Great detail in the face, but I don't understand what he's doing. I wider crop might have put more into context. Is the sign supposed to mean something. I feel like I'm missing something obvious...nice portrait, anyhow.
