Good subject for this challenge. This looks like a very interesting light. A couple things to consider. Maybe putting this light into an interesting environment would have been good rather then using a simple black background. If this was not a possibility then maybe using a white background would have been better because the lamps base is black so you loose it in the background which is also black. Also i can see that the highlights were blown out. That is something that you should always pay close attention to.

I think you would have had a more interesting image if you had photographed the city lights that are in the background as that's where my eyes are drawn to.

At first glance I didn't notice that this was an evening shot. The lights in the background didn't register at first to what they were, then after that I noticed the stars in the evening sky. I hope that others' are slowing down enough to catch the fine details. Good luck.
