As with all brand-new babies, this one is adorable.
Lovely soft focus and gentle colors. While the white shape
in the background is not intrusive, if it could be dulled down
even further, it might be a plus. I keep going up there to
figure out what it is, rather than staying on that lovely
baby. And yes, I agree with the others the red mittens could
well be desaturated to put them in the background.

Aren't you lucky to have two beautiful new granddaughters? I hope they live near each other and can grow up close friends. (And near to you too, so you can keep the photos coming.)
I think the suggestion to convert to black and white is a good one as there are some slightly greenish lights in her skin, at least on my monitor. Also the suggestion of a tighter crop. Just bringing the top down to cut off the horizontal piece of furniture top right would improve it a little bit.

The two things I would suggest have already been noted - tighter crop and bw conversion - and I would do this to maintain the focus on the subject rather than the bg and to dull the mittens (which due to the colour are slightly distracting).
