I think this photo could be raised a level by some different approach in post processing.
Hmm...
Okay, were it up to me, here's what I'd do.
The first thing is the crop. I think that a much tighter crop would be good in a number of ways. Like, try cropping it down to just his head and a little bit of the water ripple. (1) it'd bring an emotional intimacy to this. (2) the grass in front is a bit of a barrier between viewer and subject, and I think removing most of that would be good. (3) the bright white splotch on the right drags the eye away from the model, cutting that out would also be good.
There's also a bit of a cyan color cast to this image that I think it might look livelier if that were taken out.
And finally, I'd probably try to darken the vegetation a bit. Right now your model looks shadowed and overwhelmed by the brightness of the world.
