Night time in Fog Cityby RuneberComment by littlegett: This is a nice timed shot. The depth and perspective are nice. However for me there is too much white-space at the bottom of the image and it causes a distraction. Also the haze over the buildings mutes out what I think could be a great colour. I know you cannot change the haze/clouds whatever was there. Perhaps a night where the sky is a bit clearer? |

The paper factoryby RuneberComment by MarioPierre: I always like industrial night photography but I'm not sure about the angle and composition. Also, I find the bright light at the bottom left very distracting. |

The paper factoryby RuneberComment by Paul: OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: Great smokey / misty feel and good handling of a high contrast scene. I like the 'starburst' lights too.
Critical stuff: The non-vertical chimney is driving me nuts!!
Overall: A bit un-engaging for me but pretty well executed. |

The paper factoryby RuneberComment by Dr.Confuser: I especially like the star artifacts around the lights and the wispy steam/smoke. It gives the photo an other-worldly feeling i quite like. |

Yellow in the nightby RuneberComment by Yo_Spiff: The contrast of lighting just does not seem to work for me somehow. I'm not sure what the real subject of the image is. My eye is being led... somewhere where there is not much to see. Perhaps a lower angle without that limb in the way would have shown the bridge to better advantage. |
