A little better lighting control reducing the highlights would have been a plus. Not an overly interesting image from an artistic sense, it does provide a lot of detail and color differences. A little more thought into the composition would have made for a better image. A good entry into the challenge, it falls just short of being truly effective. Perhaps a little change in viewing angle or use of a light board to add some back lighting into the subject would have helped.

Sorry, this shot just isn't doing much for me. The nearly straight-on perspective and the way the left wheel is cropped out just does not work for me. I think form another angle this might show off the textures of the metal work quite well.

If I didn't know this was a challenge for Trains and Railroads, I would have no idea that this had anything to do with either of those things. Personally, I don't connect with this at all.
