Baby Squirrel On A 95 Degree Dayby JoaniePComment by Jedusi: lol - he somehow manages to combine looking flaked out with looking kinda comfy . . Due to his natural size and colour I wonder whether he gets a tiny bit lost in the overall shot ? A different crop may perhaps have added a little extra something ? Don't know - but cute shot all the same :- ) |

Baby Squirrel On A 95 Degree Dayby JoaniePComment by EBJones: I really, really, really want to like this shot! The 'pose' (for want of a better word) is priceless, but the shot could use some work. The image is soft overall and the leaf on the right could have been cropped out in such a way as to bring the squirrel in closer as the main subject and also put him in more of a 'rule of thirds' position. As is I'm going with a 6, but I think this subject could have rated an 8 or 9. |

Hosta Budby JoaniePComment by JuliBoc: Well, there is black and bluish white. The definition didn't say anything specific about the meaning of black and white, so I guess you met the challenge in a very out of the box way. Nice going. |

Megan by JoaniePComment by wyverndragon: I really like the patch of red offsetting her lips. I really like the yin/yang thing between her hair and the background. I recognize it as perfect textbook butterfly lighting. Compositionally I really dig this shot. But I'm bugged a little by the model, I feel she looks sort of dear-in-the-headlights stunned.
I think it's just she needs a different facial expression. But I also keep wondering if there were a little more directionality to the light if it would soften her severity a little bit. |
