Is that a hydrant. Looks like a very tiny one.

Comment by jeger:
Selectively saturating the fire hydrant would make this a little more interesting.

I'm not deep enough for this. I'll have to get someone like Posthumous to translate this entry for me.

A file size of only 75k tells me you could have used less compression and possibly gotten a little more clarity into this image. Always adjust JPEG compression so that your file size is as large as possible, but within the challenge limit. (150k for this one)

I'm sure Freud would have something to say about this interpretation... I can see how/why people may compare themselves to a tree... I suppose... But, why this particular tree? A tree that is pretty unremarkable it has to be said, which stands behind a large brick wall, not much of an outlook really? Anyway, in my opinion the photo could have been improved by choosing a more dramatic viewpoint. Perhaps from the base of the tree looking up, to emphasise how tall the tree is, or at an angle to use those lines of brickwork in some sort of abstract way, possibly from the wall side showing what the tree "sees" from the other side. You need to explore other possibilities for framing the shot because the diagonal line of the top of the wall cuts right through the main subject, which does the shot no favours. The main thing is that you took the time to photograph something and entered the challenge. Keep doing that and you will be rewarded.

Focus is strange, and I'm not crazy about the black and white.
