Now that the challenge is over, I wanted to say more about this photo. This was a bonfire for the school spirit (homecoming game). It was in a vacant lot, and I used the zoom to get it as close as I did. I could have come closer, but didn't want to intrude on the kids who were to the right of the fire.

It does look fierce, doesn't it? :) :) The burning wood was pallets piled and set on fire. I liked that it gave texture to the photo.

Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate the time you took to comment and give ideas to make a better shot.

A bon fire? intense it seems:) this would have worked for me a bunch more had you a person in front of the fire walking towards the camera..."from the gates of hell" you know? good capture of the flame though. good luck! 5

Very well done. Lovely contrast and colour. Sharpness is great for a fire shot. How did you get so close without melting your camera? You must be a firefighter. I can see this easily published for an article on forest fires...

The capture of the flames is great, the way it draws you across the photo is very well done. Hope you didn't set this just for the challenge!

I love this. The colors are so vivid. I love the skeletons of the boards left on the building. They look like they are just about to collapse. I can almost feel the heat from the flames. Excellent photo and a definate nightmare. 10

I hope no one was hurt in that. I'm sorry to whomever lost their possessions or their loved ones. (Is that for real?)

Nice exposure for fire! Certainly a "hellish" photo which seems appropriate for this challenge.

beautiful shot, definitely has that nightmare feel. I'd like to see more sky above (and not have the flames cut off) and less black at the bottom.
