Rapidsby fisheyeComment: Great feeling of sweeping strokes - you can feel texture in the detail in the highlights... |

Staples Corner, 7pmby QuasimojoComment: The lights from moving traffic was always going to be an obvious call but the composition here really raises this well beyond the norm - really captivating piece. |

Carsby jacoloComment: My runaway favourite image in the challenge - just love the subdued colours and aristocratic lines.
(though sadly I suspect your votes will be compromised by the small image size) |

The Roundaboutby SoulMan1978Comment: I'm a bit of a stickler in the DNMC stakes - can't see the point in setting a challenge if you're not going to meet it - but i actually think this shot 'interprets' the concept quite successfully/imaginatively. I like the way it 'mirrors' the obvious interpretation of capturing a moving element within a still landscape, and the challenge becomes to capture a still element in a moving landscape. I think it meets the challenge quite interestingly.
For the execution to really work though I think a tripod would have been essential - the 'still' bits really need to be 'still' and the camera shake spoils that important element of the illusion.
Good shot at the challenge though. Message edited by author 2007-10-06 13:00:15. |

Attitudeby trevytrevComment: From your comments: "I know the eyes where OOF but I had to go for the happy medium and focus between the eyes and her beak..."
I think this works so well preciseley because her eyes are in soft focus... it's like she's coming in to attack you in which case your focus would be on the beak and the eyes would fall into the background.
The image is from the perspective of the victim - if you'd focused on the eyes and let the beak blurr it would suggest more the 'self perspective' of the attacker (ie it would be concentrating on the victim through its eyes. And now I'm starting to ramble incoherently again - sorry :)
BTW did i mention this is a stunner. I hate to say it deserved a ribbon 'cos that's a bit disrespectful of the images that did... but it deserved a ribbon! Message edited by author 2007-09-04 14:44:35. |

Thank you. Thank you very much. by SandyPComment: Apart from being an absolutely superb shot technically it fits the challenge imaginatively (and even humurously) - not just 'qualifying' on account that there's a wing in the picture somewhere the bird is looking at its wing and inspecting it. The wing IS the subject. A deserved first place indeed, and one amongst a very high standard of entries too. |

Do-It-Yourself Dentistryby GeneralEComment: This is a really excellent image - great balance of colour and movement. Not one for DP Challenge perhaps but don't let that detract. Great work. |
