Gold spotsby DianeSComment: Excellent photo. Some observations that may have improved it a little. The shoulder looks a little odd, hunchec a bit perhaps or crossed in the lap. I like the side lighting, but might have liked it a bit better with soft light on the front of the face as well so as to have less harsh shadows. I really like the crop and general setup/use of props. Also on her forehead seems to be a bit of a purple tinge to the light. Nice use of thirds, as well. |

'coldplay' in torontoby saintaugustComment: This guy would have had whatever money in my wallet I had, and a nice hot coffee or hot chocolate.
I know people who can't pull themselves out of bed into their car cuz it's too cold, at a cushy office job. If this can can lug his ass up and out into the snow and do his thing, well, that deserves something.

Ahh the woes of macro photography. Part of me hates taking macro shots for the small problems it presents.
I love the moment in time captured here. The moment where the bug is going from one part of the stem to another creates such an interesting pose.
The flash used is a bit harsh and creates too much shine, both on the bug and the tomato in the backround. I might have cropped a bit of the left side out as well as focus on the branch is a bit distracting. Pretty good overall. |

Gotta love the intersting lines of a spiral staircase. Overall well done. Some small points... I might have moved the table entirely ouf of this picture, the placement seems to interrupt the general flow of the staircase, and the clutter on the table is distracting. The lamp also creates an unwanted change in the overall lighting in one small spot, so distracts me. The lighting overall seems to be daylight, probably mid day, as it is quite harsh. In the evening using interior lights only might have been better, more warm and moody. The house seems warm so I think accentuating that would have looked quite good.
If not removing the table entirely, moving it to fit in with the curve a little more and moving most of the clutter, possibly leaving just the book and flowers.
This looks like it was probably shot at a wedding and that the guestbook table, with name cards, some candles and possibly some treats on there as well. I think less would have been more in this case, but it probably wasn't an option to go around moving things ;-) |

The shadows are a bit too stark in this photo for me. The whites are generally overexposed and the blacks underexposed. Perhaps adjusting the white balance would help to even things out a little bit. |
