"Wow...that was a fast run"by docjonnyComment: I love this effect. Not sure how much motion is there because the skier is coming stright at you. The low light thought is really effective |

Kneeling at a Streetlightby ibkcComment: Strong strong image which is slightly depreciated by streetlight in the title. I do feel too that more black/rain to the top and left would add exponential impact to this |

Will it ever stop!by wingyisleedsComment: Love the concept, the elements are all there. For some reason my eye is first drawn to the sofa and i missed the rain on the window. The person being just hair is a little distracting. It seems that maybe if the foregroung objects were more out of focus, the window and rain would domniate more |

September in Coloradoby vtruanComment: It works really well doesn't it. At last, an image with great rain and a context in which to put it. I love the colouration so typical of a day like that. In composition, you have the low left tree balanced by the high right tree with the wind of the raod giving it balance and flow. I'd be interested in your view of chopping the bottom quarter off the image so that you have the foreground grass just at the edge of the road in bottom-left frame. I bet that would have been worth a whole lot of extra points in the voting. You would have had an image much wider too as a result to help viewing |

...It was too wet to play...by PrismComment: Oooh the colours and contrast here is really strong! The great complimentary colours of the blue/red/yellow, the clarity and sharpness of the water drops and the tilt make this so strong. What I think will let it down in the voting is that a great deal of its impact is lost by too much detail in the background. This seems to draw the eye away from the real stars of the shot (photographically) which are the slide's elements. Maybe the swings are important to the story but I feel are less important to the photograph.
I would be really interested to see the result of you masking all of the background and putting a blur on it as if you'd used short depth of field. |
