Grayson's Beautyby MacDonaldComment: I like the pastels in the lower half of the image. The flow of the image works well starting at the lower left third of the image...following the flow of water to the dark rocks...which like an Ansel Adams flow points to the next dark area in the image...the lone rock. The next visual treat in this image is the pattern of waves which blends into a warm pastel sunset. Brilliant!! |

Winter in the Lakesby RiponladyComment: I gave it an eight. I thought this image was all about color. The different hues of blues and greens with the red boat...red, blue, and green. The over sharpened water with the over saturated clouds makes for nice contrast. The sharp and soft areas of the trees also adds to the image. Great Job on the Post editing! |

Overgrownby gurlwithapenComment: I would have like to seen this even sharper. The angled lines are good as they give the image a foreboding feel. I would have also cropped out as much of the dark foreground shadow of the tree as possible. IMO. I agree with the commentor on range of values in the image; however, it appears abit flat...maybe more contrast or a sepia filter. All in all...a very nice image...a 6.014 indicates to me that you're in the hunt and doing things right...keep up the good work! |

Behind the Wood Pileby BakerBugComment: I thought this image would do better than a 4.7. I gave it a seven. The angled lines add to the composition. I think I would have put the 39 abit off center or try to eliminate it as it distracts from the flow of lines in the composition as the eye tends to stop at the 39 and not continue with the natural flow of the composition. The blue pallet tends to offset this though. I think the problem most voters had with the image is a lack of punch...I might have waited for the sun. You have darks and midtones but I think it needs some highlites and maybe add some texture with USM. IMO. Again, I thought it would do better, just needs a little work. |

Gold & Blueby GIS_boyComment: Is that a cactus...well it's a damn good abstract of one if it is. The challenge description stated no recognizable objects or something to that effect. There is also a halo edge at the top which I might have tried to clone out or reduce the radius abit in sharpening; however, I think it helps with the fins. the yellows blues and golds (a form of yellow) works well here. I saw some other blues and yellows in the challenge that can't stand in comparison. You chose...wisely! I think I would have tried to get more of the cactus which may or may not help! Good use of shapes, although this image would have trouble in comparison to other images in the challenge. Overall appeal of the image...Priceless! 10...at least that's the way I saw it. |
