grasshopperby bobdaveantComment: I have taken a few pics of these insects and find i like the shots better when i use a small aperture. Gives a little better DOF. None the less still a nice shot. |

A Life Behind Barsby beamsclanComment: I think this photo stands for soooooo much.
First thing was the bars then i thought that actually the bars dont look as bad as the animals eyes. You can see this is captive (obviously the bars) but the eyes tell that story too and for me is just a reminder that no matter how ell they are cared for these creatures are highly tuned predators and belong in the wild.
Great photo which sends home a few reminders!! |

Harris Hawkby ImagineerComment: I adore Harris Hawks (Parabuteo Unicinctus) and have trained at least 4 of them, each with their own unique characteristics. I might add that i have trained them for educational purposes at bird of prey centres. And although they are captive each one flew free and hunted successfully.
They truly are unbelievable and with each bird i truly had massive respect for.
Great photo, however when the sun hits the colours on the wings it really makes them glow and would imo make for an outstanding picture, as yet i have not seen one but would be impressed if i do.
This bird is a under a year old as it displays an immature plumage, when a year old and they moult they turn a real dark colour with magnificent 3 tone chestnut colouration within the wings. |

Common Buzzerdby messerschmittComment: This almost looks unreal.... If it is in the UK then it would be a Common Buzzard. The colours do not look real to me for that particular bird. Its almost half way between a Red Tailed Hawk and a common Buzzard.
