Lights on the Hudsonby slingshotComment: What looks like sideways motion blur and a much smaller number of lights makes this much inferior to the other version I've seen submitted, even though I like getting a little blue on the water instead of black. |

Cobalt Bay Bridgeby snackwellsComment: Very striking colors, and for the first time, I see star flare that works, being a single enhancing light. |

Secrets At Midnightby rubytuesdaiComment: Conceptually, this is an interesting shot. I like the idea of late night writing. Unfortunately, it doesn't convey any sense of possibly being outside (on cloth, it implies being found in a bedroom, the way that it is), which violates the challenge constraints. Also, focus is very soft (intentional? it works ont he pen, but not on the paper), and the blown highlights on the candle combine with the lens flare to really hurt the image. Colors are also a little off, seeming a bit too reddish to me. If this were advanced editing, I would have recommended blending multiple shots to get both the candle and the book. With basic, the most I can recommend is underexposing this, and then dumping contrast and boosting shadows to see if you could get the book back up. Correcting the flare probably requires buying a better lens. If you could have found a tree stump or porch chair to set this on, that might have helped with the "outside" aspect. |

Beltainby scoulhComment: In honor of John of Iverkething? At the northerly latitudes where this originates, even the lewd aspects are unlikely to approach full nudity -- it's just too damn cold. No points deducted for that, however.
I wish the shadows were slightly lighter, since I can see the arms of a figure in the center, but can't really make out the rest. I do like the face being lost into shadow on the right, and the smoke in the background. |

Medievalby Tom_RobbrechtComment: Pretty, with a nice, smooth reflection. Color contrast between the leaves and the yellow of the windows is nice as well. Blown highlights on the bridge are distracting, though. |

Draggin the Stripby bruskiComment: The presence of the care mostly in focus makes this much more interesting than the other long-exposure blur shots I've seen. It's a pity you couldn't actually get the care all the way clean. The colors on the lights are really interesting as well, particularly the yellow fading to orange. |

Waitingby philcozzComment: I like the basic concept. It tells a story, of sorts. Nits: the glare from the top sign is very distracting. Tthere might not be much you can do with it, but you might have tried applying a color filter to it before converting to black and white to see if you could dim it or at least enhance the contrast on the lettering. |

Nightmovesby drz01Comment: The lights are a little harsh, and the scene seems very ordinary, even with the title directing me to the one moving car. The halo around the Shell text also makes it almost, but not quite, impossible to read, leaving a poor impression on me. |

Steeltownby StrikeslipComment: Frightening, like a nightmare. The colors are very vibrant, and the harshness of the lights actually fits well. |
