Moonlight Melonby ShutterPugComment: I love the idea. I had a simular one with a round sponge and putting a lightbulb in side of it to get it to glow. Never did it. But enough of that. Very sharp and crisp. I would have liked to see it cropped differently more to an upper corner but that is just me. I gave it a 7. |

Rose of Sharonby SunnieeComment: I would have to agree. I feel the backlighting is what is causing the difference between the pinks and whites. But not distracting to me at all. I do feel the slight greens in the center make the red feel richer. Nice use of them. |

The Flyby mattmungerComment: From the Critique Club
I think the subject totally meets the challenge. But I think it suites a more narrow type of viewer ie fishing people.
Nice tight closeup of the subject. Their is metal but because it is covered by the fuzz/feathers it is rather more implied.
Nothing at all wrong with the shot photographically ie lighting, focus ect ect. Maybe a change in the backdrop/background would make the subject pop out more.
Very unique photo on a dying art. |

Babbling Brookby SJCarterComment: From the Critique Club
I think the subject fits the challenge very well. But maybe a different angle showing more of the bend in the water would have helped.
Nice foliage and very lush looking. Nice darkwater and definatly adds to the photo. The only thing that plays tricks on my eyes, are the rocks. Some how I see the rocks and "spongy". It is almost as if their was a radial blur on each rock even though I know their is not. Probrably just my eyesight fading =).
Still a very nice attempt and alot less then it should have scored. And as always just being their is worth more than a score. |

Very interesting subject. Nicely textured but maybe a little bland on colors. I also feel that a different angle could have improved upon the shot.
Overall a nice concept but lack a general "pop" for a fantasy challenge. |

City of the Futureby gudbjargarsonComment: From the Critique Club
I have been to Hong Kong (1990-1991), and the photo does remind me of a fantasy type of city. I just think a orverall lack of detail in the city hurt the photo in the challenge.
Things are so distant no one can truly appreciate your "city of the future". The highlight and lighting above the main building does look very nice.

only lightby GrigollyComment: From the Critique Club
I think this is a very powerful image. Nicely framed and proportioned. The lack of light at the top left corner and lower corner adds to the effect. Nice detailed b&w image.
The window is a little to overpowering for me. But nice effect on the floor on the light casting. But I could see how some would like that. Their is also a slight cant in the window but barely noticeable. Would have liked to see a bit of dust in the sunlight but it just knit picking. Very well rounded photo. |

just a male thingby DanSigComment: From the Critique Club
First off their is alot going on which I think is a good thing. Alot of the photos entered in the challenge were static and seemed caged. I think it was a good idea to enter this with all of its action. Their is not much detail in the acutal birds but this is outset by the action.
Nice tones...but does seem a bit on the dark side but then the water capture might not be as nice. So I think you struck a nice compromise. The rocks have nice textures and framed in the lower right so does not draw your eye.
I think what over all hurt his image during the challenge was the lack of detail. Which is sad because their were few other action shots and fewer with multiple birds. I feel you should have scored higher and way to go for doing something different. |
