Rando D300Comment: Randy, boy - did I recognize these spots! I was there on Feb 2nd and again last weekend. The first visit had the heavier ice like yours, and the second visit, much less so.
Are you standing on the Canadian side, at the walkway wall or up in the Skylon Tower? Assuming that your answer is affirmative, what settings did you use for your zoom?
After this past 4 stops (since Nov)at the Falls, I may never return in warm weather again!
I was also amused to see that you didn't miss one of my favorite sites in Niagara - the Butterfly Conservatory. I posted pictures for the first time today linking to:
//photos.yahoo.com/pixkwess04 Five of the pictures are from those two places.
It's only 3-1/2 hours to run over to Niagara Falls from my home on the western shores area of Lake St. Clair. You can bet I'll be there several times a year from now on.
You may already be aware of this, but there are several links on the web for Hamilton, Ontario and Waterfalls (I never knew they were famous for them!) This is definitely on my To-do List. Here is one link:

Thank Heaven your country doesn't mind lending her scenery to us Americans! Kathy
