Dead Fallby sherryk471Comment: Pleasant landscape, exudes tranquility. Good colors. That light brown undefineable mass adjacent to the treetrunk is somewhat distracting, probably because it is so hard to read what it is exactly but you had no control over it anyway. 7 Journey |

Sticking it out!!by kimbershopComment: Cruising through the thumbnails, i would say that this is one of my favorites. It is a very "clean" picture, not one of those gimmicky productions. Nice colors and contrasts.I love the rhythm of the composition of the sticks. They seem to do a dance and the fast moving clouds seem to be the "score". Two minor nitpicks: 1) wished you had cropped out that little bit of dark on the right; it's probably a tiny bit of another stick and it interferes with the overall nice rhythm a little 2) wish there weren't those weeds in the bottom left corner - they don't "belong" as they are another object and I really savor the simplicity of the few shapes, clouds and sticks against a blue sky. However, to have cropped them out would also lose the left stick which makes such a nice triangular shape and very necessary for the overall rhythm. 8 for now. Journey |

Winds of Change Over Baghdadby magnetic9999Comment: I am sure you will get a lot of comments asking whether you were really in Baghdad and i am one of those :) This is a nice picture with a great title. Would have preferred if you had rotated the image so that the tower would be perfectly vertical instead of tilted. I also find the crop at the bottom somewhat abrupt; probably to have seen more of the signage and the arabic lettering and perhaps the complete window would have given a more satisfying composition. Good choice of the b&w; it underscores the enormity of the events and changes that are taken place there right now. 7 Journey. |

Acid Rain Showerby EnzoComment: Nice image of a nasty subject. You sure this is ther esult of acid rain rather than the ubiquitous pests? :) The clarity of this image is just amazing: sharp detail of the leaf and the rain drops. Also like the background: it is lively without being "busy". Nice composition with the diagonals of the branches. Good color combo of the dark green, the chartreuse green and the orangy rust tones. 8 Journey |

Clouds are closer than they appearby WILDBLUEComment: This doesn't do much for me, probably because i have seen pictures from the side mirror a number of times now and once the novelty has worn off, there isn't all that much interesting to look at. 5 Journey |

Shelter From the Stormby AntithesisComment: This is such a cool image. Of all the pictures i have seen so far, it describes "weather" the best. I love all the distortions and i just FEEL this rotten weather and this storm right here at my monitor. Good choice to do this image in B&W as it underscores the nasty weather. I'll revisit this image lateron before voting ends. 8 Journey |

Evening Weather Report for UT, Austin: Beautiful!by paganiniComment: The title says beautiful but this picture does not come across as such to me. Too much of a good thing is sometimes ugly. And in this picture there is way too much. As a result, the sky looks a little garish; that "sunburst" looks so Photoshoppy (i know it isn't) phony that it bugs the heck out of me. The thing i find most disturbing of all is the fountain spouting water (the right word for it escapes me right now). It is so sinister-looking that it reminds me of Anthony Perkins in Psycho when he came dashing into the shower. In fact, the only reason I could "read" that sinister shape was because of the water on the lower left, which is really lovely the way it catches the light.
Now, without the fountain and without the sunburst, a picture of just the sunset and the silhouette of the buildings with the interesting silhouettes of the towers would have been such a terrific shot. THEN, that sunset would have looked indeed beautiful and a pleasure to behold. 5 Journey |
