Blue Lagoonby marboComment: Mark, photos like this are why you're one of my favorites of the site. Your IR work inspires me to keep trying with my own. I hope to have your talent with it some day. I've been anxiously waiting for the trees to leaf back out all winter. I've been suffering from IR withdrawl. lol
Anyway, great work as always. This shot is simply beautiful.

A Doll and a Little Lassby SandyPComment: The exposure on this is fantastic. I have problems when I have such a dark and light subject together. I tend to blow out one or the other. Great job. |

Forgotten Water (JPG-based retouch)by Zed PobreComment: It's really difficult to come up with something that hasn't already been said. I think you did a great job bringing out the colors of the hydrant. It does seem cheery!
As for the twirly stem.....I like it.

stepping awayby armelleComment: As I looked at the histogram of this shot it seemed a little too light. A minor levels adjustment of the black (40 points) really brought out the contrast in the footsteps in the sand.
As you mentioned, the blownout sky in the top left corner is a bit distracting. Maybe some burn there would help? I don't really know as I have a hard time with the dodge/burn tools.
I have to second Steve's comment. The composition is excellent. It's a great photograph.

Edited-small.jpgby TallblokeComment: Looking at the histogram this shot seems pretty perfect exposure wise. A few of the clouds on the right seem a bit bright when compared with the original, but I don't think it takes away from the photograph much. That said, I really like the dodge on the boat. It makes a big difference. It was a great edit. |
