I think I would have rated this higher, but the smoke appears so indistinct and out of focus. Was it blowing away from the camera? Wish the bottom edges of the smoke were not cropped out. The candle is so distinct and clear that it tends to detract from the swirling images of smoke. Just my thoughts. Good luck with the challenge.

Hard Drive Disaster

Hmmm... not done rating yet, but isn't that the same drive that mirrored the DPChallenge forum page in the Mirrors challenge? It sure is getting lots of attention these days... Would hate to see it crash. My first impression is: pretty drive, nice image, neat play between gold reflections and red colors - oh, and there IS some smoke there.

On her elbows? Was Katydid dead? Poor thing (either way). Did you try "No Red Eye"? Otherwise, nice image. Colorful, bright, nice contrasts and focus. Good luck with the challenge.

Hope someone was watching traffic while you took this. Nice lineup, other than it appears the top mid-ground line on the left (the last stretch of level land before the mountain) doesn't seem to line up with the correct line outside of the mirror frame. Very creative idea. Good luck with the challenge.

Barry Bonds at the plate? Interesting view - I've done similar before, specifically one shot from below looking up from in front as the subject was standing in front of Mickey Mouse, who then showed in the sun glasses. You don't need much more DOF; what you've got is OK. Could still burn out even more of that background though. Just my opinion. Good luck with the challenge.

I don't really understand this in terms of a "mirror"; looks more like an out of focus TV screen inside the shirt. The psychological thought process behind the image is sort of interesting though; some sort of metaphorical symbolism in there somewhere, I'm sure: Man, football, blood, soul, etc. ... Anyway, good luck with the challenge.

Please don't take this wrong, but these little guys irritate me. :-) Normally, when I see them, I go, "Oh, shoot! Those stupid little dummies again. They need to be the subject of an 'Oh, No, Mr. Bill' cartoon" In other words, squash 'em, burn 'em, smash 'em, rip 'em, blow 'em up, etc. However, this time, I really had to laugh. They actually made a well balanced, interesting and colorfully contrasting image. What irritated me more at that point was I couldn't really grade them terribly low. Rats. And congratulations, I guess... :-)

Unfortunately, this looks like someone working to take a picture of themself. You need to make it interesting. Could it be framed so that your arm doesn't look like its holding up a camera? Maybe you could attempt to show yourself with some particular mood like sorrow or joy, or you could try and portray yourself as some famous person. Technically, the image isn't all that bad, but natural lighting might eliminate the shadow effect on the wall behind the "real" person. You could also hang a black backdrop and remove the slightly seen, but distracting curtains, etc., in the back ground in the mirror. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Good luck with the challenge.

It took me awhile to realize that there WAS a mirror; that I was seeing two sides of the same coin. The color schemes being different, it was hard to tie them together. And, I was wondering what that bigger green out-of-focus blob was. Anyway, it was very hard to see or understand a mirror at first.

Very moody. Almost "Star Wars - ish" I'd try to get out that little bit of yellow highlight on the top of the pole, though. That's just me. Nice image.
