You know, I like this one, but I'm thinking that for the sake of the competition, a more dramatic results might have been something similar to the picture I showed you earlier, with SO MUCH of the face out of focus. I'm sure it would be difficult to do, but I'm also convinced you can do this. Additionally, I think some backlighting also would have helped the subject by giving more information about the "bokeh".

The lighting is quite dramatic. It seems a bit harsh, in a way. However, the clarity is striking.

While the dew drops might look better if they didn't contain green hues (giving the rose a more ethereal placement) the green background is a complementary colour to the red and balances well.

Wow, great capture, Matt!!! Really excellent! I LOVE that you've captured the coin as a still object, though perhaps a twist in the dimension of its travel might be more convincing of its motion. Not sure how you set that one up, though. The high contrast is wonderful, and really works with the subject!
