Red Devilby NazgulComment: One of my immediate favorites. Good use of selective color -- it draws the eye right to the subject of the photo. The red is a nice rich color without being artificial in appearance. Composition is good too with the rule of thirds. Cropping the top portion of the musician also keeps the subject in focus. |

Baby Bluesby trying2bstillComment: What a gorgeous baby! Nice photo, and good application of selective desaturation. It really highlights the nice features of the baby without being distracting to the image overall. Well done. |

Balancing Balloonsby BassieComment: I think I would probably prefer this photo in color. The subject is wonderful, however I find the use of a color highlight to be more distracting to the overall image that I would like. It pulls my eye up to the balloons, but the cyclist is too interesting to be pushed into the b&w background. |

Summer at the Farm by L1Comment: One of my immediate favorites. Great candid image. Cute subjects. Nice use of selective color -- and color that looks natural and not glaringly artificial compared to the desaturated background.
Wish the crop was not quite so tight, cutting off the tops of the boys' heads. Still a nice photograph though.
Good job. :) |

Cruise Ship.jpgby scottwilsonComment: Ohhh Kona! I was there for two weeks in December and just loved it. Lucky you to live there! I remember seeing those huge ships out in the water like that. It really does glow against the dark mtn like that. Neat. :) |

Live or Die in Black And Whiteby duncesComment: Pretty good. It conveys the concept well, and the perspective and composition are good. A little more detail in the shadows would be nice. |

Color or Black and White?by genghisComment: Gosh, sharp crayons *still* make me want to color! I guess we never quite outgrow that! Good but despite the great color, it's a little boring. Maybe having the rows move in a diagonal across the frame? Or having one crayon missing or worn way down?
