I think I like this better than the one you entered - fiddling too much with the colours detracts from the original too much, IMHO!

Nice one Mr D! Hehe looks like you've been practising! I thought this was ever so slightly wonky as did some others I see. Not so sure about the little shadow around the edge - left and top - don't know whether you were experimenting with effects? Anyway, jolly good show old chap, keep up the good snapping! Catch you soon! Reevey

Thanks - but there wasn't any gaussian blur used in this shot.

But you said there was: "...Bit of selective gaussian blur..."

Just reading back on some of the comments... does it really matter if she's actually from Ipanema or not? What matters is that this is a fantastic photo, and congratulations to goodman for your ribbon! The photo itself is not dependent on the title and so little niggly things like this don't really matter!! Ok, got that off my chest...

Way to go Ben! Great to see you got some brilliant shots in NY - knew you would! Hope the photography doesn't get pushed too far down the priorities list at Uni!!!

Whoa! I think this pic could be a little darker and with a bit more contrast. Perfect capture tho!
