Tiki Torch at Sunsetby Kage01Comment: I like the sunset in the background and the fact that the torch has a nice bit of clarity is good. I wish the lighting wasn't quite so harsh on the torch though. The small size of the image detracts a bit as well. If a reshoot is possible, I'd suggest a slightly different perspective so that you don't have those white things at the bottom of the torch, without having to crop out some of the deeper colors of the sky. I gave a 5 |

Short Fuseby cislanderComment: I like this image, there's nice clarity and contrast with the main subject and the lighting is excellent there. I do think this would be more powerful if the hand was cropped out. There is a lot of life, clarity and action in the sparks and whatnot so it makes the duller, less lit fingers look subpar in comparison. Cropping the fingers out instantly keeps the attention on the spark area and leaves it there, nothing for the eye to wander to. I gave a 5 but without the fingers I would've rated it in the 6 for sure possibly 7. |

"Fire Lake"by tfarrell23Comment: Beautiful. Love the seascape and the way the orange/pink/red tones of the fire contrast with the cooler blues of the water. The silhouetting is very nice and keeps that part of the image simple so the fire can play center stage. Nice focus and the composition is great. I gave a 7 |

*.*by jessebradleyComment: I love this. There's a very celestial feel to this for me. The colors are great and the composition is very nice. It looks like this was done on a mirror, so the reflection is inevitable but I think I'd like it even better if there were nothing but black at the base, so everything is growing upwards. I think the softish focus works here and the lighting is perfect. I don't know how the fire was controlled or if any special substance was used but I think it'd be cool (if its possible) to get some sort of graceful figure/figuring in the middle of the flames without it burning up. Added dimension and all that as this really gives me the impression of a sort of Venus rising. Anyway, great job! I gave a 7 |

Fischer Creek Fireby die2boardComment: Nice editorial/photojournalistic image. Even though there's quite a bit of smoke around, it could almost appear as if the fire is starting right before our eyes. I love the contrast between the orange flames and the deep pine trees. I also like the rawness of the image. Maybe its just me but there's almost a visible wince to this shot where I can only think of destruction that'll soon engulf the rest of those trees. Nicely captured, I hope you were at a safe distance. I gave a 7 |

Hot & Spicy !by Tom_RobbrechtComment: Great composition, great fire, great colors. I like the idea and the lighting looks to be just right. There seems to be a bit of harshness in some areas with the lighting but overall its fine. The focus is good, though seems soft on the ends of the pepper, possibly because of the lighting? Not sure. Nice entry. I gave a 7 |

ARORA of the FIREby FocusPointComment: Simple and beautiful. I think this is a great entry. I'm not sure if you could've gotten the fire to look sharper and I'm not even sure that's needed. The softness is a great aspect in itself so its a tough call whether sharp would've made the image as appealing. I definitely love the colors and the simple arching shapes are wonderful. Very nicely envisioned and captured. I gave a 7 |

Summoning the flames by TUBORGComment: Excellent all around. Great storytelling. The technicals (focus, lighting, composition) are all great. I don't really see anything I would change to be honest. Nothing jumps out either as a glaring issue or even a nitpick. I'm bumping from 8 to 10. Nicely done. |

Krypton on Fireby posthumousComment: I love the abstract nature of this. The colors are great, the focus looks good on parts of it, I do wish the depth was deeper or touched on more of the brownish areas. I like the contrast of the cool colors against the darker brown/blacks. Composition is good, the image is a tad busy which makes it difficult to find a place for my eye to rest but in an overall sense it works together nicely. I gave a 6 |

The Flaming Snowballby RebeccaComment: Great image. I like the choice of selective desaturation, really makes your subject stand out. The image is very crisp and clean and the expression on the girl's face is excellent, very emotive. Obviously meets the challenge. The few nitpics I have is the arms look overly processed a bit, particularly in the bicep area to me, sort of soft and slightly blurred. I also wish I could see more of the girl's face, especially with that happy look she has. Quite lovely. I gave 6 |
