What's on your night stand?by LuvLiveSmileComment by SaraR: Looks more like a dull washed-out black to me! Rather uninspiring, I'm afraid. The focus is soft, and the hash lighting has produced heavy shadows against the background - pulling your subject forward would help avoid these. |

What's on your night stand?by LuvLiveSmileComment by jdannels: unfortunately with DPC's size requirements, thin crops do not work so well as you don't use alot of the space. Also if you have photoshop you should use the Save for Web feature, it will get you photo to the maximum allowable size 150 kb which will show the most details. Your image is only ~50 kb. Here is a DPC tutorial to help you. |

There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects itby LuvLiveSmileComment by goinskiing: It's a neat little setup, I like how the green candle lines up right to have the flame in the mirror. What's difficult here is the lightning. It looked like your camera picked a higher sensitivity or ISO due to less available light, that's where all the chroma and luminance noise come from giving it that more snapshotish look. Try have one strong, dominant light source, you'd be amazed at the difference it can make. Hope that helps! |
