Confused Cowboyby AczarinaComment by tomlewis1980: Could have been a better shot if it had a more suitable background also use of the flash has caused harsh lighting both on the subject and the white wall in the background. Try shooting during the day to make most use of natural light and stand the subject away from the background to make it easier to blur the background out. |

Confused Cowboyby AczarinaComment by myqyl: Could have been a wonderful shot if you had payed more attention to the background... This challenge was about negative space, meaning everything that is not the subject. Take the same child and have a solid green lawn or even a solid white wall behind him and you have a MUCH stronger image.
Also, I've found when shooting children, especially young children, it often helps to be on the floor looking up at them or maybe eye to eye...
You have a great model to work with :) a little work on the technical aspects and you'll be all set :) |

Confused Cowboyby AczarinaComment by hughletheren: This is a nice portrait which would have been much better without the white frame - flash rarely produces a good portrait - this was so nearly there. |

Flying Soloby AczarinaComment by justesme: I see what you have done here, but it's not my cup of tea. With such a bland 8/8 cloud covered sky, it is of little to no interest. However, with the bird slap bang in the middle makes the bird the center of interest. I would have like to share the center of interest between both the bird and the skyand done so by cropping the image to place the bird on one side.
However, well done. Good try. =) |

Flying Soloby AczarinaComment by Kavey: Nice idea and interesting graduation from white to dark across the diagonal. Position of bird within frame feels a little unbalanced - this is one that I think would benefit from a rule of thirds cross-section position.
